Anywlan_Performance Improvement of Distributed Coordination Function in IEEE 802[1].11 Wireless LAN

Abstract：This paper proposes a modification to distributed coordination function (DCF)to imp rove the channeI utilization in IEEE 802．11 wi reless IocaI area networks(W LANs)．In the modified DCF．when a station has contended fo r the channeI．it may transmit multiple data frames continuously to the same destination．which is called transmission bu rst(TB)．W hen the maximum number of data packets transmitted continuously in a TB is set to be 2．the performance is expected to be the best．
The theoreticaI analysis and simulation results show that compared with the standard DCF，the modified DCF can inc rease the th roughput and decrease the delay of the W LAN．and the modifica—tion does not introduce any additional control overhead．
